Meet Wynston
About Wynston (Winnie)
He is very shy until he knows you. He loves a good smooch and has THE softest ears
Before coming to me he hadn’t been walked at all on lead so he’s come on leaps and bounds with lead training. He looks for guidance when out walking but EVERYTHING was new to him like pavements, people, animals, car noises, buses, motor bikes, sports fields noises, the dark, the lights on and on it went. He was such a chicken flitching at everything and many a time he was under my feet nearly tripping me up
He now walks well on lead and with lots of sniffy walks he enjoys going out
Dog parks are a breeze if enclosed. He must not let him off in an unleashed area. If he was surprised he’d run off!!
Food motivated as you’d expect from a Beagle he is trainable and would go very well at scent training AFTER he had made friends and feels safe in that type of noisy doggie training environment.
He is super keen to make friends and easily slotted in to live with our resident Rottie and our cat. The cat he ignores and the Rottie is his bestie
He SHOULD go to a home with another dog UNLESS he is with a stay at home person/couple. Part time worker will not suit Wynston. He must have company.
He does NOT do well at all on his own. He will fret and whine and; (annoying) even do that beagle howl if alone for too long
Not the nicest trait but its due to his background of being left alone for long periods and his fear of being abandoned, he does stop this behaviour as soon as he realises he isn’t alone
To combat this I put the radio on loudly when leaving home after he first arrived. Now he’s settled I don’t need to but he has our dog for company hence the need for a friend or home body parents
He is not fussy with food, typical Beagle, and is currently on a part raw and part dry diet which he enjoys. He knows to sit for access inside and outside and before mealtimes
His need to be in company tests his self-control and recall is non existent because when his NOSE is engaged and stuck to the ground his ears DON'T work
I have him on a 10 meter lead if I want control at a distance.
He really is a little sweetie who has had an awful few years and deserves his forever family to understand his past and provide the safety and love for his future he deserves
He will make someone a beautiful companion but whoever sees him does need to understand his need for company
The right match is out there we just need to find them
He is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, lifetime registered, flea, heart and worm treated.
