Robbie and Bob

Robbie and Bob

Hello DCH!!

I live on the North Shore and I have 2 of your darling doggies!

The first one I adopted was Robbie, a red cattle x staffy. He is now 4 years old and a real Mum's boy. He is a very well behaved and loyal man, and I have honestly never felt the connection to a dog that I feel to Robbie. I have recently bought a kayak and i cannot keep Robbie out of it. I have bought him a life jacket and we go kayaking together on the river. He has only been to the vet for his annual check-up and vaccinations, otherwise he enjoys a perfect bill of health.

The second hound I adopted is Bob, and Irish Wolfhound x mystery breed! Bob was 5 months

old when I picked him up and he is now 3 years old. I bought Bob for my father for his 70th birthday. Sadly, my father passed away in January this year and left poor Bob behind. Bob misses him dearly and spends quiet time sitting at the foot of my fathers bed.

Bob and Robbie live together now. They are the best of friends and we call them brothers. Each morning when they wake they find each other and kiss each other good morning. They share all their toys quite happily and cry (howl) when they are separated. They were born to be together: The Odd Couple!!

Every year we go on the Million Paws Walk for the RSPCA and a while back they won a photography session as a prize. We went off to Centennial Park to have the photos taken, all clean after being at the groomers, and they loved every minute of it. It was very difficult for the photographer to get shots of them separately as they just wanted to be together! A sign of true brotherly love.

I can not sing the praises of your organisation enough. Both my boys were healthy happy pups when I adopted them and have continued to be so ever since. They have lovely temperaments and there is not a hint of aggression in either dog. It is a great way to add a pet to the family and I will certainly never buy another dog, or cat, or any other animal from a breeder when I can adopt them and rescue them from the doom of the pound and/or death row. I think both my boys know that they have been 'rescued' and are very grateful. They seem to show a special kind of loyalty that I have not seen in dogs from a breeder. Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards, Emily Patterson

Robbie was adopted on 16/11/05 after 1 month in foster care. Bob was adopted on 12/8/06 after 3 weeks in foster care.

Judy

Just thought I would send you a photo of Sassy. I adopted her from you early in May. Your son was sad she was leaving and I just wanted to let him know that she is very happy and a very spoilt puppy dog. I would have sent you this photo earlier, however Sassy took some paperwork I had sitting on the coffee table and chewed it up into little pieces. One of the things she chewed was the paperwork you gave me that you wrote your email address on, the only thing retrieved was your phone number. I called today and spoke to your husband and got your email address.

Can you please let your boy know that she is very happy, and is running our household. I have a very big garden and she loves to dig and play in it day after day. She is healthy and I love her to bits, she is great company and is just what I needed and I think I am just what she needed, lots of love, affection and attention.

Thank you for such a nice little puppy dog.

Ski now Sassy was adopted on 15/5/08 after 2 months in foster care.

Muffin

Hi Judy, My name is Kris and I am the very lucky person who adopted Muffin last month.

I just wanted to write to let you know that Muffin is settling in wonderfully. My two children absolutely adore her and there's no shortage of pats and snuggles.

I would also like my heartfelt thanks and appreciation passed on to Lauren Tasker for the care she took looking after Muffin before we adopted her. She was wonderful to deal with and I know that without her care Muffin would not be the beautiful dog she is today.

Thank you all very much.

Kris, Paul, Corinne, Hayden and Muffin.

Muffin was adopted on 28/06/08 after 1 month in foster care.

Suzie

Suzie

Hi Selena

Suzie is doing realy well. She runs to greet us from where ever she is every time we come home. She is starting to spend more time outside especially on her own and she absolutely adores the kids. She isn't scared of them at all, that is unless they keep harrassing her which is when she hids under our bed. That doesn't happen often though.

She even sleeps on my oldest son's bed through the day and sometimes hops on the kids beds at night before we go to bed. When she is outside she does like to have a game with the birds. She stalks them but could never catch them as she gives herself away by meowing as she is creeping up on them!

I have attached some photos of Suzie for you. The one called Suzie was taken the second night she was with us, Apologies for the quality they were taken on a mobile phone.

We all love her to bits and are so glad she is part of our family. Melaine

Suzie was adopted on 12/07/08 after 1 year in foster care.

Bluebelle

Bluebelle

Hi Danielle, Bluebell or Isabella as she is now called has settled in well. In fact she acts as if she owns the place. Yes we do see the princess trot and she definitely required a comfortable couch to sleep on. She is also very good at trying to con us about how many times she has been fed and is a bit heavier than she was when we first got her home, although we are watching that. We are not keen on a pyjama case for a cat. Thanks again for your advice on settling her in. It was very useful.' Kind regards

Bluebelle was adopted on 13/07/08 after 2 months in foster care.

Little Boo and Tiger

Little Boo and Tiger

Hi Megan,

I got kittens via your organisation last year in April. I picked them up from a family in Bella Vista. I just thought to let you know that Timmy (black) and Toby (tabby) are doing very well. A photo is attached. They are HUGE cats (not fat, just long and tall) with long hair. They have the run of the house and garden during the day and are kept indoors at night. Needless to say that they are boss

still trying to fight it out among themselves exactly who of them is the head honcho as they are brothers and about equally strong. I don't know what I did before they arrived... certainly less vacuming! They are much loved

I think one of your success stories. Best regards Monika Rickli

Kinjiro and Sakura

Dear DCH workers

Just dropping you a line to let you see the beautiful big cats our little kittens have grown into in just one year. We picked up our little kittens from Riverstone (I think the lady was Narelle?) on 8th January 2007

they were about 10 weeks old. The boy, who we call Kin-chan, has grown into a beautiful big tom cat, and the girl, Sa-chan, a lovely white and tabby female. Their natures are so different

he is slow and easy going, she is lively and busy. They are happy in each other's company and still play rough and tumble every morning and every night. I've attached a picture. Thank you for two beautiful cats.

Regards, Cathie Tanaka

Banjo

Banjo

We adopted Banjo in February 2008 through your organisation, we would like to share some photos of him with you. He has brought so much happiness into our lives, the kids just think he is the best and he runs after them and plays chasings with them around the house, we have just adopted a new little kitten and Banjo is just so gentle with him, they sleep together, he is just so precious. At night he snuggles up on the lounge with us and he is the loudest snorer.

Thank you Lyn and Paul who Fostered him and loved him until we found him, we love him so much, you are all doing a great job

Thanks

Vanessa

Banjo was adopted on 14/02/08 after 3 months in foster care.

Diamond

Hi

Just thought I would update you on the most sensational dog on the planet. Radar continues to grow and is now about 32.25kg. The vet reckons he will fill out a bit more, but it near his full height

He plays with virtually every dog at the local dog park every day, but has a best friend, Seamus the black labrador. We have dogsat Seamus over a weekend and the 2 of them played non-stop for most of the weekend. They both slept pretty soundly on the Sunday night at the end of it all. We are about to go on holiday along the Great Ocean Rd, the Grampians and Ballarat and will send some photos from that trip. I have attached a few photos of him. He has started guarding our house by barking at strangers in the street from our front window. He goes to the window throughout the day just to have a look and see what's going on. It is kind of his watch tower. Thankfully, he only barks when there is someone unfamiliar there which is only once a day or so. The other day, Andrew surprised him on the other side of the window and he loved it! A friend at my job last year insisted on sketching him and we finally got it framed (I know, we're pathetic!). Have a look at the photo for a great likeness. He doesn't look impressed, but he was just curious about my camera and what the heck I was doing with it.

Love Raewyn and Andrew

Diamond was adopted on 17/10/07 after 2 weeks in foster care.

I thought you might like to see how the kittens are getting on. Mitch and Bella now run the house and I'm just here to feed and pat them.

They are great company and I love them lots. Thanks for letting me adopt them.
