Mini

Mini

Hi

We got our dog Jet in late 2006 as a shy, little puppy then known as Mini.

She is now just over 1 and is a great family pet. She loves to go for walks and play with her toys. She loves to make funny sounds like she is talking when she wants attention, but rarely barks. Jet is a medium sized dog which is a great size with smaller kids.

Even though Jet is a playful, energetic puppy she still loves to curl up on your bed for a cuddle. For our family we couldn't wish for anything better. Thanks a heap, June, Steve, Gemma, Aidan and Jet Rush

Mini was adopted on 11/11/06 after 2 weeks in foster care.

Franklin

Franklin

Hi

I adopted Franklin back in november 2007. Here is a recent photo of him, he is now 12 months old. He is a great dog he is lovable, loyal, pretty obedient but improving, great watch dog. Is not chewing things up in the yard as much, keeping him in good supply of bones and chewing toys and exercise. Your organization is great. Thanks for providing an opportunity for these animals to have a another chance at life.

Franklin was adopted on 26/11/07 after 1 month in foster care.

Evie

Evie

Hi

Just a quick email to let you know how Evie is doing. We have had a lovely Christmas and New Year with her. She certainly is a real character and each day she brings us all lots of joy.

Evie loves going out in the car and can hardly contain her excitement if she gets wind of a trip. Over the holiday break we have taken her to the beach and then go for long walks along the headlands and the beach. She loves splashing in the rock pools. She has had a few swims in our pool, but only when really coaxed in. We also take her for long walks around our local area. She loves her food and the diet suggestions from the 'Give/Feed the dog a bone' are fantastic. She eats everything (and I mean everything). She has oatmeal for breakfast with all sorts of accompainments (banana, mango, dessicated coconut, natural yoghurt, cottage cheese, molassis, yeast, kelp..........just to name a few and not all in the one meal. She has grown a bit more and looks so wonderful and healthy, her coat is so glossy.

Both my boys love her to death and spend lots of time giving her lots of attention. She gets a goodnight kiss everynight from my 13 year old. I will start a 7 week dog training course in a week or so, which will be great. She is really very good, but is very stubborn and will not come when called if it is not in her interest.......................so I have tended not to let her off the lead too often when out, as if she is playing with another dog, she will just not come when called.

The toileting has gone really well and she wee's and poo's in the garden beds first thing in the morning when we get up. We are putting her in our small laundry overnight where she is contained and does not make a mess at all. We were continually finding several wee's and poo's every night when we left her on that large patio area. She would mess right over in the other corner, out of sight, out of mind............... She is currently asleep in our family room, in her bed, which she loves. She is on her back with all 4 legs up in the air. I will send some photos next time I email you. Regards Amanda and EVIE

Evie was adopted on 05/12/07 after 2 months in foster care.

Snoopy and Apollo

Hi Tatiana, Sorry we have not been in touch for a while. We have moved house and the lucky pups now have a big back yard with plenty of grass to dig dig dig. They also love to chew chew chew. They are a bundle of energy and have developed very different personalities. Snoopy is by far the more active dog. Although they both love their walks, Snoopy is constantly wanting to chase balls etc while Henry is happy to sit back and relax. Henry reminds me of Jedda...he is a real sook, loves a cuddle, throws himself on the ground for a scratch whenever you are there. Snoopy is far more independent and is quite happy for a scratch, cuddle and then goes off to chew a bone.

They are totally dependent on each other. They do everything together at the same time. When we take them to our local dog park they always run everywhere at the same time. They are incredibly friendly with other dogs and people. They love the dog park....it is huge and they can run for miles on grass and through bushes. We went away for two weeks in January (yes another soccer tournament)and they went to a kennel. They were in the same run and they had puppy play time everyday. They came back really happy, and I think had put on weight. The kennel is called Meadowmist... I thought you might like to have that recommendation for other families.

The boys love the dogs just as much as they ever did. The pups are so lucky with cuddles and attention from all 3 boys. We still call them puppies just as you used to.

Best Wishes,

Minchen

Hercules

Hercules

Dear Judy and the team at DCH, We would just like to thank you for our fantastic new addition to our family. We adopted Hercules who now is known as Odie (like the dog off Garfield) in February. Odie has fit into our family perfectly. For a dog who had never been around children he now has three to contend with and is coping fine. Odie has become the star of our street and all the kids on their way to school stop and say hello. He has been quite easy to train and knows his place in the family regards to our nine year old cat.

We are very thankful to you for putting us in contact with Odie's foster mum and we couldn't be more happier. Kind regards Margaret

Hercules was adopted on 04/2/08 after 2 weeks in foster care.

Tingles

Tingles

Hi

just wanted to Thank you for tingles, I named her Lucy but kept Tingles as her middle name. Here are some photo's of her at her new home. The day I got Lucy was a huge surprise because I was inside our lift and when we got to our floor the doors opened and outside was my brother, he had Lucy in his arms and he said Happy Early Birthday Elise!

I was so excited and shocked I never thought I would get a kitten of my own after my mum had said no. Now Lucy and I are best friends she sleeps with me every night and chases after the mouse you gave her. I took the photo that you gave me on the bag to school and showed the whole class, they all said awwwwwwwwww.

I gave Lucy one of my teddy bears to put near her blanket and she stays with me all night. We made her a toilet sign that says LUCY'S LOO. It really suits her.

On Sunday we went out with Mum and Dad and bought Lucy some toys, a litter tray and a scratching post. One of her favourite things is to hide inside her toy box which is only small, sometimes I put the lid on gently to play hide and seek she is very cheeky and pops it back off. Thank you very very much, I love Lucy. Elise

Tingles was adopted on 16/2/08 after 3 weeks in foster care.

Lola

Lola

Hi Karen, We wanted to let you know that our new puppy Jelibean is the cutest thing... She did cry the whole way home from you guys and it sounded like I want to go home but she was okay once out of the container and insid......when we got back home we went to the petbarn and got her lots of special little things like a new collar which alas hung on her and lots of toys.......so we had to change the collar for a pink bling bling one with lots of girly jewels.....

Jelibean cried that night for the first 15 minutes because I put her in the kitchen after she decorated my bed as a welcome home pressie.....since then she has not had one accident in the house...she is one smart cookie... and my son is in awe of her to the point where he will clean up the dog poo as soon as she goes..... Jelibean is following the kids around everywhere and then she climbs into my lap for a quick nap b4 she is off again.... She gets lost under our shrubs and we have a lot of fun trying to find her...she sits when we eat and is the best dog as she seems to eat everything she sees... she got raw carrot the other day and munched on that.....I am now learning how to make my own dog food so that she stays healthy and with us forever

Our Cat Socksy has put her in her place and gave her a smack on the nose...we did have a baby gate up for our cat to have some space until she felt happy to join in and it lasted for 1 hour before she was out and part of the family...Jelibean did try barking at her in play and the cat just looked as if to say r u kidding me......we went to the shop today for 20 mins to get milk and we come home with more toys...(she is a spoilt already)..she also looks at us when we call her name so I think she knows already who she is....

My kids want to say Thanks for making their family a good one and saving Jelibean so that we could find her...I will get a pic to you later this week of the kids and Jelibean together Paula
