Glenn

Glenn

DSH - male

Sadly Glenn became very ill and didn't make it. RIP little man.

Super friendly playful kitten who loves to be with people, he is a very gentle boy who loves a cuddle and will make his new family very happy

He is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and ready for his next big adventure

Whyte

Whyte

DSH - male

Update 13/5/14: Sadly Whyte took a turn for the worse, his brother was diagnosed with FIP a month ago and it seems Whyte was unlucky enough to have it too. He was peacefully euthanised today with his carer there to comfort him. RIP

Cute little man who is very affectionate and definitely a lap cat, he came into foster care deaf which is common for blue eyed, white furred kittens, he will strictly be rehomed as an indoor only kitten, he enjoys being indoor only, he deserves lots of love and only the very best home

As he is deaf and can only be rehomed to an indoor only home.

Mickey

Mickey

DSH - male

Mickey was unfortunately found to have a congenital heart defect which was incurable and has passed over the rainbow bridge.
Mickey is a gorgeous little boy. He is so affectionate and will curl up on your lap at every opportunity. Micky loves people and other cats and would fit into any home. He is used to being handled by small children and has a tremendous amount of love to give. Micky would benefit from having an existing cat to keep him company while his owners were out.

Dreamer

Dreamer

Pomeranian - male

After coming from the pound at a very young age, sadly little Dreamer has come down with life threatening gastro bug. Not parvo, but proving just as worrying, little Dreamer has been on a drip at the vets getting treatment for the past 8 days. It is still very much touch and go but he is proving so far to be a little fighter, so we are hopeful that continued tests and treatment will see him turn a corner soon.

Dreamer's additional vet costs have so far come to around $1,275.

Update 30/5/12: Sadly little Dreamer didn't make it. RIP little one.

Frankie

Frankie

Mastiff staffy x - male

Its a really sad day for DCH and Frankie's story needs to be shared as a reminder that pups are like little kids, you need to watch them so carefully as any small object they find goes into their mouths to be chewed and swallowed and what happened to Frankie is the worst case scenario .

This gorgeous little boy had been running around quite happy yesterday, eating playing and just being a pup. At about 8pm last night he disappeared and when his carer went looking for him she found him standing in the yard and as she approached him he fell into a mess of his own poo, she knew something was horribly wrong.

We directed them to Sydney University Emergency vet and on arrival he was hyperventilating so the vet took x-rays to try to determine what was causing this. Unfortunately it was found that he had swallowed something really sharp and as it travelled through his little body it had perforated his organs, his lungs were full of fluid, his stomach with gas and his bowel with fluid.

After much consulting with other vets it was decided at 1.30am this morning to let the little man go as they believed he would never survive the operation to try to save his little young life. His carers are absolutely distraught that this has happened to their lovely little Frankie who touched everyone who met him with his beautiful sweet nature and happy disposition.

RIP Frankie, this is just such a horrible tragedy.

Ruby

Ruby

DSH - female

Update 07/04/2013: sadly, Ruby died while in care Presenting Ruby; a dark smokey tabby (dark charcoal black stripes with brown). She is a year old. She was obviously someone's treasured pet as she is so friendly and sweet. She is very easy going, loves her humans. She's a little cautious around my cocker spaniel but will merely walk around her so she may have lived with a dog of some description before. She loves to sleep on my bed at night and is no bother at all (she smooch up to you for the first few minutes as if to say good night and then settles down on a corner of the bed by herself unlike some cats that feel the need to lay on top of you or in the way of your legs.....and some of you know what I'm talking about here!) She is just as happy to sleep in the spare bathroom on her blanket. She has a quiet meow and isn't overly vocal. At the moment she LOVES her food as she is very thin and probably went without for a while. She is fully litter trained and an indoor cat. She doesn't try to run out the door so I suspect she originally was an indoor cat. She greets you when you come home and and is happy to sit with you on the lounge. She is going to make someone a very nice pet.

Charcoal

Charcoal

DSH - male

Update 01/07/2013: Charcoal escaped and was hit by a car. It was a sad day for DCH.

This pretty baby is super friendly as he and his siblings have been hand reared after being dumped on my doorstep on Christmas day. They love everyone they meet and will be good mates to whomever is lucky enough to adopt them.

Nyla

Nyla

Collie Rough - female

RIP Nyla.

Nyla was a beautiful 12 year old Collie girl who came into DCH care in October, 2011 after having been passed around for some time. We had to take her to the vets as she was had severe incontinence where they were able to get a urine sample just by placing the bowl under her. She had blood in her urine so was put on antibiotics and changed the continence medication that she came in with as it was now not working at all. As soon as the new medication stopped the problem flared up again so we had to give her the tablets more often and this made her sick, she did not eat for 2 days was vomiting and that's the last thing she needed was not to eat as she was so underweight. She went back to the vets as she had urine pouring out of her still and the reaction to the tablets was an indication that there could be a more serious underlining problem. She could not live like this, wet and smelling of urine all the time and we couldn't find any way to get the kidneys working properly or to even ease the problem for her seeing her reaction to the medication.

The vet discussed options for Nyla but came to the conclusion that it had to be about her quality of life so she ate a whole packet of smackoos while we talked, was then given a sedative to make her so drowsy that she went to sleep, she was in fact snoring and so she knew nothing was going on as she went into her forever sleep.

RIP beautiful girl, what a terrible ending to be handed around as you were in the last 6 months of your life especially when you were so sick.

Shadow

Shadow

DSH - female

Update 16/1/13: Sadly Shadow got a tick and despite vet treatment she didn't make it

Shadow is a very pretty dark torti girl that is very friendly and loving girl. If you can offer this girl a loving and safe enviroment please contact us.

Sunshine

Sunshine

DMH - female

Sadly little Sunshine became ill and didn't make it

Sunshine is a gorgeous little girl who enjoys the quiet life. She's not into the rough and tumble games that the other kittens play, preferring to watch from the sideline. Sunshine loves to sleep and will make sure she gets prime position in the sun every morning on her favourite cushion. Sunshine is a good eater and is using the litter tray. Currently she shares with several dogs and doesn't seem bothered by them. She enjoys being cuddled and loves sleeping in your lap but doesn't like being smothered with affection. Because Sunshine is a quiet and independent kitten she would make a wonderful pet for a working person/couple or family. Sunshine isn't available for adoption for another 2 weeks but if you'd like to meet with her beforehand please don't hesitate in contacting me.
